Perfect start of the new year from the top, Pats Peak, the day after New Years.

Pats Peak, in Henniker, New Hampshire, is open and ready for the rest of the winter. Tuesday I, and family members, decided to brave the record cold and test their preparedness. They are ready!

The record cold made the day even better for us. When we arrived the parking lot was so empty that we wondered if the hill was open. Indeed it was and the trails were open, grossly under populated and superbly groomed. Unlike other times when we have been greeted by a crowd, there was plenty of space in the lodge and when we got to the trails it was almost lonely, there were so few skiers and boarders on the trails.

Pats has 28 trails and all of them are open with good coverage. The blessing of cold weather has been their ability to make snow on all of the trails and with natural snow since the Christmas holidays they are reporting 28 inches on all trails and they expect another 8 inches or more from the current storm.

Every trail was in top notch condition at Pats Peak Tuesday.
The skiing was great all over the mountain. Pats Peak, Henniker NH
